The CHARBAGH railway station has been constructed

The CHARBAGH railway station has been constructed in the year 1914 With elegant Elevations (Compression Members), Flooring and Facades at the Interior, with Metal Corrugated Sheets with Drainage and Cable trays, For Transfer of the Passenger from One Platform to Others there are Underground (UNDER PASS) and Non Underground Structures (Foot Over Bridges)- with Combination of RCC/STEEL and various building Material work for stability and Longevity, The same has been Physically and Minutely Observed by the team from KCPL Faridabad supported with above team to have most technical inputs/ Usage and most of the reasons for challenges occurred.

Scope of work

The Charbagh Railway station has been minutely and thoroughly visited and minutely observed of the Following Locations:

  • Front elevation and structural elements. - Protection against holding water, moisture and carbonation effect
  • Platforms: Sheet Roofs with Trusses/ Drainage Systems/ Decks/Dog House at Main Entrance/ Underpass/ Station Master Office and Various Locations Under Challenges
Waterproofing of SM OFFICE and Current Reservation Counter

There were major signs of leakages and seepages with splash and washing with subsequent deteoriation of the structure. This was treated with a combination of KUNA Purinject and KUNA Hydrfoam (both injection resins and foams) in combination through injection grouting methodology from under the deck from under deck and application of Pure Polyurea base water KUNA UREA PRIME AND UREA SPRAY from the top for giving a long-lasting solution.

Terrace on the top

of the RCC is laid with Pure Polyurea product KUNA UREA Spray 400 and primer application to provide waterproofing and further protection to the entire structure. This is self-cured, high effective pure polyurea material.

Protection of front Elevation

We applied water repellent coating KUNA -Silane-Siloxane, so that no water is standing on the surface of the front elevation outside the station and then further KUNA Anti carbonation coating is applied for long term protection against carbon, sulphur and moisture attacks. This is applied in one of the RAL approved shades.

KCPL Products and methodology used for identifying challenges and subsequent application for corrective measures

SHADES/ MS SHADES: The Platforms are having MS shades with combination of Pedestal/ Steel Column/ Truss/ MS Sheets overlapped and fixed with J hooks with proper drainage at the ends for surface run off, This is the one which takes care of all seasons and keep Passengers comfortable against all odds, these Shades are having Following Challenges

The posts/Pillars show Corrosion and stains – We applied KUNA UREA SPRAY 400 WITH PRIMER KUNA UREA PRIME for a uniform protection against corrosion.

Trusses are showing corrosion and loss of steel sections - KUNA UREA SPRAY 400 WITH PRIMER KUNA UREA PRIME is applied

MS corrugated sheets are Corroded and has cracks (ductile challenges/ thermal challenges) with no thermal insulation and under deck insulations– SYNROOF HB (ACRYLIC ELONGATED WATERPROOFING AND REFLECTANCE SEAMLESS) coating is applied with primer base providing excellent seamless finish, waterproofing and thermal insulation.

Underpass

Under pass is an access from 1 platform to other with combination of Raft (CC/RCC- AS Drawings and Details is not available) and retaining wall with deck as arched structure with Flats as load bearing member in shorter span, the Retaining wall is having cladding of Granites with Expansion Joints at required distance at the time of construction. The Challenges with the structure are treated as follows.

  • The Flooring in the underpass shows potholes/ Cracks and wash away of fines being abraded- We applied our range of Micro Concrete (KUNA Micro Crete) with shear connectors, along with Latex base Bonding agent KUNABOND-SBR.
  • The flats in shorter span, as load bearing shows corrosion and losses, needs and is treated with pure polyurea water proof coating KUNA Urea spray 400 after primer application
  • Leakages in the Underpass through Joints/ Cracks/ Pinholes etc are treated with KUNA HYDROFOAM/ HYDROGEL (This a PU base injection foam for treating any form of leakages by forming water tight compartment, where no water permeates at all.

Retaining Wall shows carbonated concrete due to environmental attack/ Diffusion of unwanted gases, carbonation effect is rectified by applying anti carbonation coating (KUNA -Anti Carb)
